Francis J.Flynn  
 
     
 
AuberyFrancis "Frank" Flynn is Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and the Louis and Claude N. Rosenberg Faculty Scholar at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business where he serves as a Co-director of the Stanford Business School’s Center for Leadership Development and Research. He also manages and teaches in several executive education programs, including Stanford's "High-Potential Executives Program".

A winner of multiple teaching awards, Professor Flynn's courses focus on developing leadership skills at various organizational levels—from senior executives to high-potential managers. His research focuses on topics confronting today's leaders—facilitating communication, inspiring motivation, and leveraging human resources to achieve outstanding results.

Francis Flynn received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on employee cooperation, work group dynamics, and leadership in organizations. Recent articles by Professor Flynn have appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Strategic Management Journal, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, the discipline’s top research outlets. He also serves as an editor of Administrative Science Quarterly.

Prior to his academic career, Professor Flynn worked for the Department of Commerce in the International Trade Administration, the Institute for Business and Economic Development, and the Institute for Urban and Regional Development. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, he provides consulting services to firms who are interested in improving their employees' decision making and interpersonal leadership skills. Recent consulting clients include Google, Pacific Bell, Boston Consulting, Cisco, Johnson & Johnson, and Standard & Poor's.

Professor Flynn has taught "Leadership", the core MBA course at Stanford on this crucial topic, "Executive Leadership" and "Power and Influence in Organizations". These courses teach leaders how to diagnose political dynamics in organizations and to lead others by leveraging interpersonal influence skills. The programs he teaches in Executive Education focus on developing critical leadership abilities for better results throughout the organization.
